 Sports massage

Sports Massage is typically used before, during and after athletic events. It can help to reduce fatigue, alleviate swelling, reduce muscle tension, promote flexibility, prevent injuries and prepare the body for optimal performance.

No matter what level you compete at, anyone wanting to improve their performance does so by having a training schedule. This includes a regime aimed at strength, skill, endurance and/or speed, specific to their event. To seek continuous improvement one has to put the body through stress and controlled overuse.

Such stresses and overuse can often lead to muscular imbalances which can decrease performance and cause discomfort. If ignored their is potential for a serious injury.

Applied skilfully sports massage can be very effective for releasing tension and restoring balance to the muscular system. It is a valuable part of any athletes preparation and recovery, preventing injury. It also has great psychological benefits in that it makes you feel good and used correctly can get you fired up to compete. Recovery is vital for any athlete and massage combined with stretching can help aid that recovery and prepare you for your next session.
