About Pro-Am Sports Injury Clinic

Established in April 2006 Pro-Am is a unique sports injury practice based in Scarborough. We are dedicated to the prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of sports injuries and musculoskeletal problems.

Pro-Am was setup two years ago by Sports Therapist Jenna wheatman. The clinics facilities allow for assessments and treatments of injuries as well as having a small gym to execute rehabilitation or injury prevention methods to enhance athletic performance or general health.

Injury treatments are suited to each individual and include mainly hands on techniques (sports massage, myofascial release, soft tissue release and muscle energy techniques). The variety of treatments available grows each year as continuation of professional development is mandatory to the association Pro-Am is registered with.

Pro-Am see's a variety of people come through it's door every day. It ranges from highly trained athletes, recreational participants, labourers, desk workers to those suffering from arthritis or fibromyalgia.

We believe in providing people with the means to help themselves.

About Jenna Wheatman

I grew up in Scarborough where sport has always been a large part of my life.  Representing clubs, school, town and county in swimming, cross-country and athletics. I am still active in athletics, my main event being the hammer throw, though I still like to dabble in many other events. My main sporting achievements were qualifying for the national championships for pentathlon as a junior and in the summer of 2006 I represented the North of England in an U23 home international match throwing the hammer.

I attended Raincliffe Secondary School which led me on to Yorkshire Coast College where I studied Sports Science. I graduated as a Sports Therapist from Teesside University.

The qualification was 3 years long which included work experience with the University's Sports Injury Rehabilitation Centre, North Yorkshire South Durham cross country league and Scarborough Rugby Club.

Furthermore, my qualification has gained accreditation to the leading national governing body for Sport Therapists – www.society-of-sports-therapists.org. I am required to undertake an annual programme of mandatory continued professional development in order to maintain my right for re-registration and also hold a current and valid first aid qualification as a pre-requisite for membership.

I have built up a reputable client base from the sports I participate in and now through my clinic. I am Scarborough Athletics Club Official Sports Therapist. I take an interest in all sports and adopt a personal and professional approach to all my treatments.
