Injury Assessment and Treatment

Injury Rehabilitation

From Elite athletes to recreational and non-exercising individuals The principles of sports medicine are the same and are effective for everyone. Pro-Am firmly believes exercise to be the route to improved health and well-being. What ever we participate in (sport, work, home) it shapes our body to adapt, this can cause injury especially if the tasks are repetitive in nature, exercise works as a treatment and prevention method to stop negative postures and imbalances that may lead to injury.

Sports Massage

Pre-Event, Post-Event, Maintenance, Injury treatments

A variety of methods are used to ease your condition and promote recovery these include;

  • Hands on therapy (massage, mobilisation, myofascial release, soft tissue release, muscle energy techniques)

  • Electrotherapy (ultrasound, TENS)

  • Exercise therapy (including home programmes)

 Each treatment and exercise program created is safe and specifically targeted to the problem areas and individual. Each exercise program focuses on stretching and strengthening to prevent further problems and correct possible muscle imbalances.

We aim to not only treat all symptoms and return you to fitness in the shortest and safest time possible, but also to correct any causative factors whilst giving you the tools to self-manage your condition.

Proprioception training There is an increasing amount of evidence that show proprioception to improve athletic strength, co-ordination, muscular balance and muscle reaction times. Proprioception is highly linked to improved recovery from injury as well as preventing injury.

Looking for an injury specialist in your area?

Many people call themselves Sports Therapists but have not undergone the extensive training required, always ensure that your Sports Therapist is registered with the Society of Sports Therapists look for the letters MSST after their name. Sadly the profession of Sports Therapy is not protected from those who have not done the right training, it is however in the process of a successful application to the health professions council which would put us along side other health professionals such as Physiotherapists. If using a Physiotherapist look for the letters MCSP.
