Pro-Am Sports Injury Clinic is run and owned by Sports Therapist

Jenna Wheatman BSc(Hons)MSST

Jenna graduated as a Sports Therapist from the University of Teesside in 2005 and joined the UK’s leading professional body in this field “The Society of Sports Therapists”. She gained a wide skill base in various fields, particularly musculoskeletal work and sports injuries, her approach is very practical.

Jenna’s interests have always been directed to sport. Athletics is Jenna’s main passion, competing for over 20 years at various events, specialising in the hammer throw. If not in the clinic you may see her out and about training with her running buddy (Castor an English Springer Spaniel) in their new venture into canicross.

Her involvement in sport instilled a passion to learn more about performance particularly injuries and why they occur. Jenna started her journey by studying Sports Science at Yorkshire Coast College, in her second year she also completed an advanced Body Massage Diploma and setup as a massage therapist in this same year.

Most of Jenna’s work is with Scarborough Athletics Club helping the runners when injury occurs and giving guidance about injury prevention methods and training. Jenna also works part time for Age UK NYCM, providing a home based exercise program to show over 50’s how to exercise with health conditions, or help recovery from a fall or illness. Her time with Age UK NYCM also incudes running 3 weekly chair based exercises classes to help stay active and prevent falls.

In addition to running and athletics Jenna has experience with a variety of sports supporting many athletes in tennis, football, swimming, rowing, rugby, cycling and many more.

Jenna’s work in Scarborough is about keeping people active no matter what age or ability. She also deals with many non sporting related injuries like neck and back pain.

“One of the greatest virtues I can bestow is the ability to improve a person’s health and well being by keeping them active” Jenna Wheatman
