This last weekend our club hosted a cross country race part of the NYSD league. It is over 10 years since I did a cross country race but I have made it part of my training for this winter as I really miss my running. I have not run over a mile for over 2 years my training has been very specific to the hammer but I just feel my mind needs a change. So I ran my first cross country race as a senior. Typically I came down with a cold a few days before but I did not let it stop me, it was only a 3.1 mile race and I loved it, well not during but after I was chuffed with my achievement. There was some really tough ground and my feet ached for a good few days after because of this, but it has not put me off doing the next one.
Sadly my course in Manchester was cancelled at the last minute and has been rescheduled for March. Our next newsletter will be out in the next few days, now the colder days are setting in, it explains what should be in a warm-up, mainly covering the topic of stretching.
